COMFORTER & JOY; THE BEGINNING
I am finally on my way with the Comforter and Joy afghan kit!!! WOO-HOOO!!!!! I LOVE this ghan so much! I think it really is a fitting, symbolic piece to all of us who knit! The squares are knit on a size 7 needle and the yarn is from Kerzer (New Zealand wool). It is funny, I never considered myself a yarn snob but now that I actually have some really nice yarn, I DO kind of prefer it to acrylic or a blend. Now, there are definate circumstances where acrylic is a preference such as baby items and kids sweaters, hats and mittens. You wouldn't want to burden a new mother, or any mother for that matter, with hand washing a wool item, so acrylic or a nice blend does have its purposes. But for my part, gee, dare I say, I think I prefer nicer yarns such as New Zealand wool, alpaca and Egyptian cotton. There are only 10 more squares to go, 4 borders and 4 corner pieces. The square with the yarn balls has back stitch embroidery that was not complete as of this photo but you get the idea on what it is going to look like from the 1 ball that is already done. Anyway, this ghan is definately a "Joy" to knit that will bring me lots of "Comfort" once it is done!
