FRESH EGGS!!!!

How is this for a perfect Mother's Day present??!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't this the BEST gift????? I have always wanted a chicken! I have no idea why but I've always dreamed of my very own chicken! Silly I know, but hey, that's just me! Anyway.................she is a sweetie pie! She hardly makes any noise and she produces the most perfect, fresh egg (one each day) for us! How handy, huh? Her name is Lucy! Jim put together this little roost house for her and her "perch" (which is kind of hard to see in the picture) is off to the right! So, I have a new member in the ever growing family! How lucky can one mom be! Just don't tell the neighbors! It's sort of against the law to own any farm animals here! Hee, hee!

That is SO cool!!! Is she fenced in? They won't wander off? May I ask about your yellow andean socks you posted about? What the full title of the book is? I was looking for it and there is 'Andean Inspired Knits' and 'Andean Folk Knits'! I love your socks!

LOL, very funny Paige! But......the eggs are sterile when they come out of the chicken! They only get covered in poop if someone doesn't pick them up right away and they roll around in the roost house! Anyway, the eggs from the store were once covered in poop too! Ya have to wash them when you collect them! LOL! lol! Is this thing on??????????? LUV YA 2!!!!!!!

Lucy looks to be a Plymouth Rock and they are sweet chickens, very settled compared to skittish White Leghorns. I had a pet one, Biddie, when I was growing up on the farm. Every summer, she'd hide her eggs in the grass and brood them, then when the eggs hatched, she'd bring her flock of chicks up to the house to be admired.
