SHEARING THE DOG
So, you've heard of shearing the sheep??? Well, this is shearing the dog. Twice a year, all dogs in this household are wrestled with on shearing day. This is Tessa with the Stitch. That's me, with the buzzer! As you can see, we do not use the traditional method of setting her on a nice table while she happily sits to be shaved. She has to be finagled with in every direction to get the job done and it takes 2 of us to accomplish this. Meanwhile, she is growling, and snapping and biting us every chance she gets. Yes, we do the shearing ourselves because no one wants to groom her; she bites! She hates to be shorn, hates to be bathed, hates to be combed or brushed, hates to have her nails clipped etc. She also fights me (literally) for the heating pad but that is another story. There is enough hair sheared off to knit sweaters for a small country but I am saving all of this divine hair to send to VIP Fibers so that I can have my very own doggie sweater!

LOL - getting little Tessa rid of her hair seems to be quite an adventure! How long does she give you the "What have you done to me?" look afterwards?
HA, ha! LOL! She looks at me like that for at least a couple of weeks! Poor thing! She must be a tom-boy because she has no appreciation whatsoever for the grooming and smell goods!
Well Suz, when you have 3 dogs and 2 cats, bravery is the least of your talents! LOL! If you have a real good buzzer, the shearing is the easy part; battling with the beast is the tricky part! The "middle" one actually bit the buzzer once and has a permanent gash in her lip! None of them like it but they get so matted after the winter and summer there is just no other choice! And I save a lot of money on the expense if I do it myself and I get to buy more yarn with my savings! LOL!
Poor little doggy Tessa is going to be all cold now... :P
